Brands GP home ground as Reeves boys attack Round Six

Tim and Tristan Reeves arrive at their home track with maximum points from the ten races so far in this year's Hyundai Heavy Industries British Sidecar Championship. The Carl Cox Motorsport Kawasaki pair have dominated the 2017 series so far, with the most recent victories coming at the Mallory Park Bike Bonanza two weeks ago.

Defending champions Ricky Stevens and Ryan Charlwood (JG Speedfit Cool Kawasaki) have had mixed fortunes this year, and trail the leaders by one hundred points in second place. But for a disastrous zero at Snetterton, and only scoring in one race at Mallory, Stephen Kershaw and Stuart Clarke would be much more in the hunt on the Express Tyres/Blinkbonny Kawasaki.

They are almost matching the pace of Reeves, and growing in confidence with every race. Certainly, they head for Brands in a rich vein of form, and if their progress continues, they will give the leaders a headache.

The wheels appear to be coming loose on the Chris Walker/Ashley Hawes (Santander Salt Kawasaki) challenge. They too have suffered mechanical issues this year, only scoring six points in the last three races. This, in complete contrast to their total consistency last season. Ben Holland/Stuart Ramsay took the Hannafin Kawasaki to a double podium last time out, so they too are coming good, as the series heads for three races on their local track at Thuxton in the next round.

In the 600cc Cup class, Ben and Tom Birchall are absolutely flying on the Mitchells of Mansfield Yamaha, but for World Championship clashes, would surely be in a similar position to Reeves, with an unbeaten record.

As it is, they are playing second fiddle by three points to rookie Todd Ellis who, with the experienced Chaz Richardson alongside, has amazed the paddock with his speed. Expect the Birchalls to assume the lead in the class, but then lo and behold, they will miss the next round at Thruxton due to the FIM Championship in Assen.

So, the 600 Cup will be a nail-biter to the end of the season, and Brands Hatch this weekend is vital for Ellis, and Alan Founds/Tom Peters, who are also very much in the hunt on the Brian Gray Powerbiking Yamaha.

With a mid-afternoon race on Sunday, live Eurosport coverage is guaranteed, along with the highlights show for Frontrunner TV, Motortrend on Demand, and the global TV agreements in place for 2017.
