The Massingberd-Mundy Lincoln Red Beef Sidecar Revival is just a few weeks away

 

Huge anticipation is building ahead of what will be the biggest celebration of sidecar racing seen for many years.

New title sponsor, and closely connected with the Cadwell Park region and topography, is South Ormsby Estate, and its rare herd of Massingberd-Mundy Lincoln Red cattle.

One of Britain's most ancient cattle breeds, the Lincoln Red was probably brought to these shores by Viking invaders as they settled in the North and East of England.

Listed as vulnerable by the Rare Breeds Survival Trust, the Lincoln Red is enjoying something of a comeback, largely due to the activities of the South Ormsby Estate.

Jon Thornes and his team are custodians of over one-third of the entire world population of Lincoln Reds, and will be energetically growing the size of the herd and preserving the pure breed genetics.

At the same time, the unique flavour and texture of Lincoln Red beef will be brought to discerning consumers.

Spectators at the Revival will have the opportunity to sample the quality of the meat, and learn more about the fascinating history of Lincoln Reds, and the work done by the South Ormsby Estate.

Entries for the event have poured in, with the two most successful sidecar world champions ever in attendance.

Ten times World Champion Steve Webster will once again line up alongside seven times Champion Rolf Biland. The legendary Swiss, with eighty Grand Prix wins to his name, will parade a period two-stroke Grand Prix machine with his equally famous passenger Kurt Waltisperg.

No fewer than four races counting towards the 2018 Hyundai Construction Equipment British Championship will give competitors every chance of scoring a big points haul, along with a round of the world-renowned Camathias Cup.

Add to these a full solo support programme including GP original two-strokes, and the weekend will be a veritable feast of classic and modern racing.

Involvement in this event is just the beginning of a Lincoln Red beef awareness programme ahead of a full marketing and product push in 2019.

The aim is to bring to the public the special qualities of the truly excellent meat, the standout quality of which is the rich marbling, that gives the beef its juicy succulence, with tasting notes of mineral, savoury and classic.
