Cadwell Sidecar Revival returns bigger and better for 2019

Following on from the success of the inaugural Sidecar Revival event, Roger Body and his RKB-F1 Motorsport organisation return to Cadwell Park for what will be an even bigger event on 22/23 June 2019.

This season marks the seventieth anniversary of the FIM World Sidecar Championship, which is the longest surviving road racing championship still in its same format from 1949 the year of introduction.

Whilst all the solo classes from that era have vanished, to be replaced by what we now know as MotoGP, Moto 2 and Moto 3, the World Sidecar Championship, apart from engine changes, and evolution of technical regulations, has endured.

The Sidecar Revival will celebrate this landmark in time by bring together as many former World Champions and their outfits as can be mustered. These will be joined on track by contemporary stars of the world stage with their state of the art machinery.

These Grand Prix Legends will parade twice daily on their magnificently prepared period two- stroke outfits.

A major contributor to the sidecar racing scene both at World level and throughout the various National series is Swiss engineer Louis Christen and his LCR manufacturing concern. The Sidecar Revival will also honour forty years of LCR involvement and World Championship success, with Louis Christen himself planning to make the trip as one of the many celebrity guests.

Title sponsor for 2019 will once again be Massingberd Mundy Lincoln Red Beef, a brand launched in 2018, and the product from South Ormsby Estate, a near neighbour of Cadwell Park.

RKB-F1 Motorsport is delighted that Jon Thornes, principle Custodian of the South East Estate, and the Lincoln Red Beef initiative has once again joined forces with them to organise what will undoubtedly be a true sidecar extravaganza.

As well as the anniversary celebrations, there will be a full two-day race programme with at least three Hyundai Construction Equipment Championship races, combined with a large F2 race programme. For the first time, the FSRA will hold championship races alongside the “long outfits”.

This move marks a significant step in bringing the sidecar world together, thus providing a complete spectacle to the track-side audience and television viewers.

Supporting these modern outfits, are races for the Camathias Cup, featuring classic outfits from the fifties, sixties and early seventies. The atmosphere created by these bellowing machines is extremely evocative, and reminiscent of glorious times gone by.

Classic two-stroke solos will complete the “retro feel” as the GP Originals take to the track in a “no holds barred” race programme.

A dedicated one hour show will be produced, to be aired on Frontrunner TV in the UK and Europe, as well as the usual channels in the USA and Australia.

This is just the beginning for the Sidecar Revival. The intention is to make it an annual event, and with growth in awareness and popularity, it will become a regular feature and important date in the diary of sidecar enthusiasts worldwide.

With six months ahead of us, there is much to do and many more initiatives to announce, but we hope we've whetted your appetite for what will be a truly special weekend.
