With the ongoing impact Internationally and continued travel restrictions due to the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, the FIM and RKB-F1 Santander Salt organisational team have been obliged to make the following changes to the 2020 calendar.

With the support of the Hungarian Motorcycle Sport Federation (MAMS), the round originally scheduled at Pannoniaring on 27-28 June is now postponed to September. The new date is to be confirmed.
For the same reason, the British round initially scheduled on the 25/26 July is also postponed. The Promoter, the FIM and the ACU are working hard to find a new date.

We would like to thank everyone involved and affected for their understanding during this period, as we continue to work hard to preserve as much of the 2020 championship as possible whilst taking into consideration and respecting all the protocols in place. We are also monitoring the various national announcements day-by-day in order to ensure the safety of all involved persons.

Further information will be communicated as soon as we have more
developments.

Revised dates are as follows –

TBC TBC GB ACU
29-30 August Le Mans France FFM
4-6 September Rijeka Croatia HMS
26-27 September TBC Pannoniaring Hungary MAMS
3-4 October Oschersleben Germany DMSB

Sidecar racing at Cadwell Park

Whilst the Coronavirus pandemic continues to wreak havoc across sport, there are significant stirrings in the world of motorcycle racing.

MotoGP and organisers have published a plan to go racing from July, and MSVR, the promoters of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship are busily putting together a revised schedule which will deliver a meaningful series in 2020. The Molson Group British Sidecars are inextricably linked with BSB and we eagerly await those announcements to get our own season back on track.

The Cadwell Sidecar Revival is however a stand-alone event, and due to the uncertainty over legislation on crowds and foreign travel, we are sadly left with no option but to cancel this year’s planned extravaganza.

All is not lost though, because the date remains firmly logged with the Cadwell Park circuit, and there is every likelihood that restrictions will be eased sufficiently for some form of track action to take place.

Roger Body and the RKB-F1 team in conjunction with Bemsee, are therefore in negotiation with the circuit to run an F1 sidecar test and practice weekend over the 8/9th August.

With such a long lay-off, any track time will be vital, and we seriously hope we will be able to offer all F1 teams the shake-down they deserve to blow some of the Coronavirus cobwebs away.

We anticipate being ready to go firm with this plan very shortly, as well as announcing other developments linked to races with BSB.

Snetterton round 6 19-7-20

Following the latest Government updates, the MCRCB has taken the decision to extend their ban on permits until at least the end of June 2020.

This means that in addition to the suspension of the opening three rounds of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship, the Snetterton round scheduled for June 19-21 is also postponed. This means that round two of the sidecars, as expected, will now not take place on the scheduled date.

In conjunction with solo teams, broadcasters and the circuits, MSVR is working hard behind the scenes to fall in line with the Government’s plan for phased reopening of facilities, whilst planning to deliver a meaningful solo and sidecar championship in 2020 and beyond.

At this moment in time, Knockhill in early July is still technically unaffected, with the remainder of the dates still in place. These are uncertain and  unprecedented times however, and we must be guided by the science and Government recommendations as the COVID-19 situation progresses.

We are very much in the hands of MSVR for our British Championship, whilst we are also actively grappling with an ever-changing situation on the Santander Salt FIM World Championship. This is proving equally challenging, if not more so.

Rest assured we will bring you updates as they become available, and we wish you all well. In the meantime, stay safe.
